So, I'm watching Ali: Fear Eats the Soul...
And this film is garbage. I've seen a handful of Fassbinder films and I think I can say with some level of confidence that he is full of shit.
When people say things like "It is nice to talk to someone" while looking off in the distance as the person they are talking to is standing eight feet away and staring at them, you can't help but get frustrated.
OH AND I HATE IT WHEN SOMEONE RINGS A DOORBELL IN A FILM AND THE PERSON IS THERE TO OPEN IT IN LESS THAN A SECOND.
AND I HATE IT MORE WHEN SOMEONE LIGHTS A CIGARETTE, TAKES ONE PUFF AND PUTS IT OUT IN A MOVIE.

THOSE ARE TWO OF MY BIGGEST PET PEEVES AS WELL.
This makes me feel better, because I tried to get through The Bitter Tears of Petra Von Kant but it was just miserable, even with the cool clothes. So I netflixed a bunch more Fassbinder to give him another try but I've been putting it off for months. Maybe it's not even worth it after all.

Yeah, the few I've seen have all been hopeless and weird. There's something really troubling about his films that I can't really put my finger on.
I DIDN'T KNOW YOU HAD A BLOG! YAY!
